Women’s Boxing has arrived last night at the Dessert Diamond Arena in Glendale, Arizona as Seniesa Estrada(26-0,9KO’s) outfought and outboxed Yokasta Valle over ten breathtaking rounds that were fought with great skill and will, and had fans on their feet for most of the contest.
All three judges scored the fight 97-93 In favor of Estrada, who became a first ever unified minimum weight champion. Even though it was a clearcut victory for Estrada fans did not agree with the decision and booed their displeasure .
“ I feel better. I’m happy,” said Estrada with all four belts around her tiny waist:” It’s something I have been wanting for a long time becoming undisputed. It finally happened and I accomplished my dreams.”
It wasn’t easy. Estrada came out looking sharp switching stances from southpaw to conventional as if it was the most natural thing in the world.Pound for pound king, Terrence Crawford couldn’t have done it better. But her opponent, Yokasta Valle did not get confused or deterred by Estrada’s clever tactics. She mounted a spirited attack from the opening bell. Her aggression cost her dearly as the heads clashed in the very first round, and Yokasta got the worst of it as a deep gash opened up on her eyebrow after the first stanza.
“ I did feel( the head butt that open the cut was intentional,” said Valle dejected after the fight:” I felt that she did that coming towards me in the first round, and I had to struggle through that for the last nine rounds.”
It didn’t stop Valle from attacking with reckless, abandon, round after round. However Seniesa seemed to have more tools in her war chest, she attacked, switching, seamlessly, and landing combinations that were more accurate and damaging.
“ The difference in this fight…” said Estrada:” I knew she would come in, and be aggressive as she always is. That’s her style, and I knew I would take away from her everything that she does best.”
The dynamic action intensified in the later rounds. Estrada played matador in the ninth stanza avoiding bull rushes from her opponent and returning fire, with the precision of self guiding missile. but in the 10th and final round the champion at heart from Costa Rica amped up her aggression and finished with the flare. It was a very exciting fight that featured everything except knockdowns . None in the crowd left disappointed or asked for a refund.
Seniesa said she would probably move up in weight and conquer the next division.
